Obituary of Maureen Wehrli
Maureen A. Wehrli (age 79) entered into rest on May 24, 2018 in Ferndale surrounded by her family. Reeney was fiercely devoted and loyal to her family and friends. She was physically limited for many years by arthritis but that didn’t keep her from being an active, vital part of her family. She was born on May 23, 1939 in Detroit to Harold J. and Vera E. Smith. Her mom and dad moved to Renton and this is where she spent her school years. Reeney married Jack Wehrli on February 8, 1958 in Renton, Washington and they had Roxanne in 1959. They moved to Ferndale in 1969 and this is where she spent the rest of her life. Reeney had a love of gardening and would work in the yard from morning til night. She had an especially soft spot in her heart for pets and her family always included at least two dogs. She also loved bird watching and seemed to be friends with all of the creatures that came in and out of the yard. Reeney was a quiet, faithful woman who loved the Lord. She’s at rest with him now. Maureen is survived by her husband, Jack of Ferndale; daughter, Roxanne Wehrli of Bellingham; brother, Dennis H. (Sylvia) Smith of Las Vegas; nephew, Daniel J. Smith and niece, Rachel E. Smith both of Las Vegas and a dear family friend, Anna of Bellingham. Memorial contributions may be given in Maureens’ name to Whatcom Humane Society. A celebration of life service will be held at a later date. Please sign the Book of Memories, light a candle and leave your condolences for the family at www.JernsFH.com
