Obituary of Lance Newell
Lance Newell (age 72) entered into rest at his home on April 23, 2017 due to heart failure. Lance was born on November 15, 1944 in Aberdeen, WA to Clarence and Phyllis (Hansen) Newell. He attended and graduated from Hoquiam High in 1963. Lance was a sports fanatic loving Husky and Seahawks football. He loved discussing football, politics, rock and roll, and cars, usually in that order. He also loved and frequently fed and cared for all sorts of animals, wild and domestic. Lance was a very loving, extroverted and loyal man. Sometimes irreverent but funny and warm.
He married the love of his life, Sarah (Naiden) on April 25, 1978 and had two beautiful children. Lance is survived by his wife, Sarah; son, Scot Newell of Richland, WA; daughter, Laura Newell of Seattle; first wife and mother to Scot, Sharon Anderson; brother, Tim Newell of Redding, CA; sisters, Kristine Atwood of Spokane, Mari Newell of San Diego, CA, Lynn Lamberson of Riverside, CA; two grandchildren; one great grand child and close personal friends, John Perry and Phil Finley of Hoquiam, who were like brothers to him. He is preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Brent, Carl, Greg, Mike, Terry, Darryl, Phil and Jon.
A visitation for Lance will be held at Jerns Funeral Chapel 800 E. Sunset Dr. in Bellingham on Friday, April 28, 2017 from 10:00 am til 4:00 pm. Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 1, 2017 at 12:30 pm at Jerns Funeral Chapel with a graveside service following at Woodlawn Cemetery in Ferndale at 2:00 pm.
